NAPLES, Italy (Reuters) - Three members of the U.S. military were killed in a car crash on the outskirts of Naples on Saturday, police said. One man and two women were killed and two other women escaped with serious injuries from the burned-out wreckage of a private car in which they were traveling toward the nearby U.S. Navy base at Capodichino.

Police said there was no other vehicle involved in the accident about 5 a.m. local time (11 p.m. EDT on Friday).
A Pentagon spokesman said he could not confirm the incident.
